As many of you know, transfers happened last week, and I am now in Yakima Northeast!
I am in a trio with Elder Koster and Elder McCoy. They are absolute STUDS. We’ve been having so much fun. Elder Koster is on his last transfer, and was recently AP. He’s a super smart Elder, super fun to be around, and I have a lot to learn from him. Elder McCoy is awesome, he finds all of the approved music for all the missionaries to listen to, and he’s a germaphobe so he wont eat anything from the kitchen, hahaha. I love these Elders so much.
Since we’ve been in Yakima we’ve had almost every dog we’ve seen try to kill us, smelled a LOT of drugs in the air while knocking doors, absolutely SLICED my finger open washing dishes, found a perfectly working typewriter on the side of the road, bought some new ponchos, walked down a lot of spooky alleyways, watched a bunch of hobos having a fire in the park, and taught some good spiritual lessons.
We do everything in our power to use our finding time as efficient as possible, while still having as much fun as possible. Our area hasn’t really been worked at all by missionaries in the past, so we’ve got a lot of people to find, teach, and baptize.
One thing I’ve come to learn the past week here during my studies, is how truly focused our religion is on Jesus Christ, and how we need to center our focus more on him. A lot of times it is easy to read the scriptures, pray, attend church and go through our week WITHOUT remembering our Savior.
One of our promises to him – as stated in the sacrament prayer – is that we will “always remember HIM.” He is the answer to all of our questions, all of our heartaches, and is the PERFECT example of how we should live. Get to know the Savior on a personal level, study and learn everything about him, and come to know him in a special way. Don’t know ABOUT Him, like you know about your favorite actor or singer. Know Him, like you know your best friend, sibling, your mother or your father. Go throughout your week remembering Him, and turning to him CONSTANTLY for help. Show him you truly do KNOW and love Him. As you do this, I promise your Joy will be overwhelming.
I love you all so much, I think of you all every day. I love hearing from you so please write when you can! I will almost always write back on my P-Days!
